Offer

Letters of Offer for Prep 2025 will be emailed to families on a fortnightly basis leading up to the June interviews.

Interview

Parents and prospective students will meet with the Principal and members of the Leadership Team for a short interview in early June.

Kindergarten Visit

A member of our Wellbeing Team will visit students at kindergarten for an opportunity to interact with them in an environment in which they feel safe and comfortable. We will also provide a Social Story for each kindergarten and each child that explains and celebrates the important parts of starting Prep.

Orientation Mornings

In November 2025 we will begin our orientation sessions when students have the opportunity to visit OLA, meet other students and some of the teachers who will be teaching them once they begin school.

Information Evenings and Social Events

We invite parents to attend different information sessions including, ‘Starting School: How your family can THRIVE (not just survive!)’ with Carley McGauran. We also host a coffee morning at a local cafe as well as a wine and cheese night for our parents to mingle and meet each other.  During this time we provide opportunities for parents to ask questions.

Orientation Morning with 2025 Class Teacher

The final piece of our Prep transition process is an orientation morning for students in their classroom for 2025 with their teacher.  They also get to meet their Grade 6 buddies at this time.

Play in the Park

During the orientation time, members of the OLA Parents and Friends Association arrange an informal play date at the local park so that both children and parents can connect, support each other and plan to meet up again before starting school.  We also provide contact lists for Prep families so that you can connect with each other over the summer holidays and set your child up for success.

Please be in touch with any questions that you may have. All the very best as you make this important decision of primary school education for your family.

Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Primary School is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS). MACS governs and operates 292 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them. Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders. This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater collaboration between schools and ensure greater consistency in school policies and procedures.
