Introduction

At OLA we aim to provide students with engaging experiences so that they become self-motivated learners, with the ability to challenge themselves and celebrate their achievements.

A very strong professional learning culture exists amongst the staff and the school’s strategic planning strongly emphasises the importance of always improving the quality of teaching and learning.  We are currently working to further develop our home-school partnership, by enhancing learning through the use of technology and enabling parents to engage more meaningfully in their child’s learning.

Learning at OLA is a rich mixture of explicit teaching and exploration through inquiry and hands-on experiences.  Our core curriculum includes:

  • Religious Education
  • English
  • Mathematics.

We work very hard to ensure that we understand each child’s needs and use a variety of assessment tools to target the next challenge!  We also strive to help students realise and celebrate their successes!

We use an inquiry approach to explore:

  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Civics and Citizenship.

We offer wonderful learning opportunities through our specialist lessons in:

  • Visual Arts
  • Physical Education
  • Japanese
  • Library.

Learning at OLA is enhanced through a variety of technological tools.  We also use these tools to strengthen the home-school partnership by allowing families to ‘see and hear’ what is happening in the classroom!  We aim to engage all members of the community in the learning at OLA.
