The Resilience Project
Wow! What an experience this has been for us! We have been so lucky to have been working with Hugh Van Cuylenburg from The Resilience Project for the past few weeks. He came and spoke with Staff, Students and Parents about three very important, yet very simple things we can do to improve our mental health and wellbeing. GEM - Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness We are all busily writing in our Gratitude Journals and practicing empathy and mindfulness daily. Check out the videos and photos from Hugh's visit below. Lightning Premiership
On Friday 16th March, our senior students competed in the Lightning Premiership for their summer sports. Read some of their thoughts on the day: Today we played volleyball at Springers stadium in Keysborough. We had a really good time and I've always ended up going through to the next division, which is a great achievement because we are a team of Year 5 boys. We won all four out of 4 matches against Stella Maris, Southmoor, Cheltenham East and Mentone Grammar. We would like to thank parents and teachers, especially Mrs O'Meara and Sensei for coming. By Seb T, Nathan and Seb GC. The day was fun, fun and more fun! We got to play fun games against other schools. The girls team was Indi, Claire, Sienna, Lucy, Rylee, Amelie, Ella, Sophie and Jess. We all work together and the boys and the pushing through enough to win and go through to the next level. Everyone had a great time and as soon as we all finished we wanted to play again! We can't wait for winter inter-school sports! Thank you sensei for coaching us this year! By Indi, Claire and Lucy We are from tennis and our experience of the day was awesome! It was fun and a great sport to do. We played Kingston Heath, Heatherton Christian College, Southmoor & Cheltenham East Primary Schools. It was hot and we all got tired but we still came first in B Division, winning all singles games except 4. We also won most doubles games. The ones that we lost were close scores. The most important part of the day was that we all had fun. Thank you to Mr Perkin for supporting us and for the parents that came to watch. Catholic Education Week Mass
On Friday 16th March the year five FIRE Carriers and SRCs celebrated Catholic Education Week by going to a special mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in the city. Over 300 different school came and it was a wonderful experience for us to celebrate such a special mass with the Archbishop. After the mass we walked to Treasury Gardens for a special concert, games and other fun activities. I had a great day and the concert had really fun music and we were all jumping and dancing. Nicola I enjoyed the dodgeball at the gardens and the Mass was busy and very interesting. Hamish We had such an adventure! St. Patrick's Cathedral was beautiful and it was very special to be at. The gardens were fun and the band was awesome! Tahlia I had so much fun doing the Tug-o-war and I liked seeing how big the Cathedral was! Jason My favourite part was the concert. Thanks Mrs Lee for taking us and thanks to Mr Evans for organising this day. Jessica My favourite part of the day was when we went to the concert. I loved the songs the bands played. Thank you for the great opportunity Mr Evans and Mrs Lee. Sarah [foogallery id="970"]
